This wall of the house also maintains much of its original charm. The windows
in this wall are much newer than on the east wall, but are still of the lead
casement type.

The South Facing Wall
This wall also has a porch and front door which was added very recently (approximately 1980?).
The date can be approximately estimated as the porch uses modern bricks and cement.
Part of this wall also suffered from damp caused by high ground levels and poor drainage.
We have installed a french drain along part of this wall also to keep out the damp and to allow the
base of the wall to breathe.

French Drain to Help Cure Damp Problems
The roof of the house is covered in old handmade clay plain tiles. These can clearly be
seen in the photo below.
