KitchenThe kitchen is to the rear of the property looking out over the back garden. This room also suffers from damp on its external walls. We have removed the fitted kitchen units and the modern cement based plasters. The walls will then be left to dry and finally replastered with lime and then lime washed. We have also removed the 1987 dated plaster-board ceiling to return to the original oak beams. We plan to clean these up and maintain them as a feature of the room.
Once the damp has been treated we will reuse the original units until we have saved up for some traditional free-standing kitchen units. At this time we will also possibly consider installing an Aga cooker to give a more authentic appearance and to keep the kitchen a bit warmer! |
