Hall

The hall is the main entrance into the property. Access is gained by the main front
door from the parking area. The kitchen, bathroom and living room all lead off of this
room. Also the main stairs go up from here. The ceiling beams are fully visible in this
room, giving a striking effect upon entering the house.
We are currently in the process of dealing with the damp in this room by stripping the
Artex from the walls so that they can breathe. The walls then need to dry our before being
replastered with lime plaster and painted with lime wash. We are also dealing with the
concrete floor which is causing a tanking effect and directing
damp up into the walls. The concrete is being removed and will be replaced
by some form of tiles combined with as many of the old floor bricks that can be saved.

The Hall Undergoing Damp Repair
The only concern in the hall is a crack down one of the walls. This appears to be
caused by a settling of the building and turning of one of the main support beams. We
are currently monitoring the crack to assess whether it is still moving or whether it
moved in the past and has now stabilised.

Crack in Hall Wall
The main stairs are a relatively recent addition to the property, so originally this
room possibly wasn't a hall, but was more likely to have been a main room when the house was
a number of smaller cottages.
