From the bottom of the kitchen lawn down to the Coach House is a plot of land
that was overgrown when we moved in. We have rotivated this land and it is now
the start of a cottage vegetable garden. The aim is to have vegetabled in the middle,
with flowers round the edge and to fill in the gaps.

The Vegetable Plot
So far, we have planted potatoes, carrots, runner beans, peas and raspberries. Our current problem is
dealing with the large amount of weeds that seem not to want to go away!

The Vegetables
To the north side of this area is an original brick wall, made from clay bricks and held together
with lime mortar. There are many plants growing up this wall, including a number of trees. We also recently
purchased a small stone statue of a monk leaning on a sword to add some additional interest to this area.
