Conservation

Owning a listed building is not only a wonderful experience; it is also a big responsibility. You are living in a piece of our country’s history and you have a duty to maintain that piece of history for future generations.

Sadly, many owners of old properties do not appreciate their importance and want to undertake extensive modifications, extensions or modifications. Any change to an old building will affect its character and it is up to us, the owners, to ensure that any changes that we must make are done in a sympathetic way. The key is to maintain the character of the property!

This section of the site is not about Monks Chambers specifically, but describes listed buildings, the responsibilities of owning such a building and the principles for maintaining these buildings. We are following all of these principles in the work that we are currently undertaking.
