Repairing The Coach House
Back to 'The Coach House'
There is a large amount of work that needs to be done to The Coach House. Much of this
stems from an insufficiently tied roof structure which has caused the roof to spread and
twist. This has pushed the walls outwards and caused many of the structural problems and cracks.
One of the main problems is the rear wall which is leaning outwards quite significantly.

The Leaning Rear Wall
Additionally, the movement of the walls is pulling the main roof beams with it. This has resulted
in movement of the main door lintel which is now very suspect.

Suspect Door Lintel
Stage 1 Repairs
The first thing that we have done is to remove all of the tiles from the roof. This reduces
the load on the walls and should help to stop the spreading. In total we removed about 5000 tiles!

Stripping Tiles From The Roof
We now need to get additional structural reports produced to work out how we change the roof to support
the weight of the tiles. The next step will be to get additional Listed Building Consents for the
work.
